This quote sets the tone for the struggles the heroine, Angel (Abigail Cowen) endures throughout the movie. Angel was forced into prostitution as a girl, a victim of a human trafficking operation run by the antagonist Duke (Eric Dane). She ends up in her first brothel because her biological father doesn't claim her and her mother (Nina Dobrev) ends up the victim of tragic events.
