Hundreds protest at the US Supreme Court, as they weigh in on a ban for sleeping outdoors

Hundreds of people are protesting at the US Supreme Court, which is considering a case on fines for homeless people. It revolves around the decision in a small Oregon town who introduced a $295 fine for sleeping on city streets.

"Sleeping is a biological necessity, and people may be forced to do it outside if they can’t afford housing or there’s no space in shelters," Justice Sonia Sotomayor said. Advocacy groups agree and say it will make the crisis worse if people are fined and it effectively outlaws being homeless. The court's decision is due by the end of June.
