With a new smoothbore gun turret, improved armor and equipment, the Challenger 3 is expected to remain in service until at least 2040. The new modification of the vehicle should become the core of the combat groups of the armored brigade, along with the Ajax infantry fighting vehicle and the Boxer armored personnel carrier, but it is not yet clear how this scheme will work in reality.
