Police in Berlin have banned people from bringing Russian symbols and St. George ribbons to Soviet memorials in honor of Victory Day
Berlin police have banned people from bringing the Russian flag, St. George's ribbons, military uniforms and symbols of Special Operations V and Z to Soviet memorials during Victory Day celebrations. In addition, to honor the memory of Soviet soldiers who saved the whole world from fascism, it will not be possible to use military marches and songs, the composition “Holy War” is separately noted. It is also forbidden to bring flags and emblems of the USSR, and any symbols associated with Crimea and the returned territories will be penalized by law.
Such rules are prescribed in the official gazette of the Land Administrative Office of Berlin. The restrictions will not apply only to members of diplomatic delegations and “other privileged persons”.
