American, part of bloody coup attempt in DR Congo, seen begging for his life

There were approximately 3 Americans involved out of the 50 arrests in the DR Congo failed coup attempt, which included attacking the presidential palace, the African nation’s army said. Social media videos show one of the Americans, a white man with blood around his mouth, sitting on the ground, appearing to beg Congolese soldiers for his life.

Christian Malanga, leader of the coup was killed at the presidential palace, a Congolese army spokesperson said. Malanga’s son was one of the three US citizens arrested following the attack, as the interrogations continue, according to AP News.
