A female redstart and chick
The common redstart, or simply the redstart, is a small passerine songbird in the Old World flycatcher family. The redstart is widespread in northwestern Africa, Eurasia, and across Russia (as far east as Transbaikalia and Yakutia in Siberia). The habitats of the species are forests and urban forests, sometimes wooded steppes.
