Mystery ‘sonar-like’ sounds from Boeing Starliner puzzle NASA

US astronaut Barry Wilmore reported a strange repetitive sound coming from the Boeing Starliner that had carried him and Sunita Williams to the ISS two months ago for what was planned to be just an eight-day mission.

It isn’t clear what the sound is, and it comes after multiple problems on the Boeing shuttle including a helium leak into the propulsion system. The Starliner will return to Earth this week uncrewed, while both astronauts will be stranded in orbit until February next year.
