Southern China prepares for super typhoon Yagi

China's southern provinces are bracing for super typhoon Yagi, which could be the most powerful storm in nearly a decade. Schools have been closed, and flights postponed ahead of its expected landfall along Hainan's coast on September 6.

Yagi, currently about 610 kilometers southeast of Xuwen County, is bringing torrential rains to the southern coastal areas. Hong Kong may issue its third-highest typhoon signal, shutting down businesses and reducing transport.
