? Chara Sands is one of the smallest deserts in the world, measuring 10 by 5 kilometers. It is located in Zabaikalsky Krai and is recognized as a geological monument of nature, surrounded by larch taiga and swamps.

Zabaikalsky Krai doesn’t have any other valleys containing such extensive bodies of moving sands. These sand masses create ridges and chains of dunes. The length of the dunes ranges from 150 to 170 meters, while their height can reach up to 80 meters.

️ Chara Sands is not only one of the smallest and northern deserts in the world, but it is also a unique and stunningly beautiful natural phenomenon. This area is the most inaccessible, yet from a tourist's perspective, it is the most intriguing region in this part of Siberia.
