Climate activists block a central square in the German city of Kassel

According to regional state TV station Hessenschau, between 180 and 200 activists from the Last Generation group temporarily blocked the Altmarkt intersection in Kassel on Saturday.

After multiple requests to clear the road, police began removing protesters and issuing orders to vacate the area. Officers carried away demonstrators and issued fines.

Last Generation has been staging protests in public areas of Kassel since Wednesday, opposing the use of fossil fuels and state subsidies for the Kassel-Calden regional airport.
