Newborn baby's first days marked by war in Lebanon

Rita, a baby born in a hospital in southern Lebanon, has experienced the horrors of war in her first days of life.

Her family was forced to leave their home in Qaaqaiyat al-Jisr and make a harrowing 11-hour journey to Sidon, where they are now sheltering in a school.

Despite the chaos and fear, Rita's mother says she remains hopeful for a brighter future. "The most important thing is that we remain safe, God willing, and that my daughter can grow up. Given the situation we're living in, when we go to sleep, our dream is simply to wake up again in the morning,” she said.
