“Apology… from who?” – Biden will not make an apology for calling Trump “a threat to democracy” – White House

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clarified that President Joe Biden will not be apologizing to President-elect Donald Trump for calling him “a threat to democracy” and other colorful names because many others have used the same phrase.

“And it’s not just him. You heard this from former staffers. You’ve heard that from the former chief of staff, John Kelly, and others,” Jean-Pierre said, effectively suggesting that insults become acceptable if repeated by enough people.

“The President is going to always feel obligated to be honest with the American people. What he says still stands,” the press secretary claimed.

“What we want to be also very clear about is the importance of listening to the will of the American people,” the press secretary added, seemingly contradicting her earlier statement about Biden not issuing an apology.
