9/11’s toxic legacy: Male breast cancer cases surge among Ground Zero heroes

Although only around 1 in every 100,000 men get breast cancer, 91 of the 98,590 in the World Trade Center Health Program have been diagnosed with it, according to CDC data.

The WTCHP was set up to offer first responders and those near the 9/11 attacks health care, with around 50 cancers, diseases, and illnesses believed to have spawned from toxins released in the air after the Twin Towers were struck.

One cancer patient involved in the program claimed: “They had every known carcinogen to mankind at the World Trade Center site.”
